After reading through the numerous newsletters I've subscribed to, there seemed to be a theme of the basics of SEO and reminding people that when all else doesn't seem to work - go back to basics. One of the articles that I read on Sphinn really caught my attention. It was all about 5 easy SEO tips, you can read the full article here. What really caught my attention was the back to basics approach. I'm a bit of a sucker when it comes to making sure that I'm doing the right thing. I often read the SEO overviews to make sure I have all the bases covered.
Anyhow, the back to basics approach turned out to be a real winner. Looking at a few client's keywords positions, I decided to take an indepth 'audit' of the websites in turn and make sure things were being done right. As it happens there were many areas that needed improvement and fine tuning. URLs, link text, copy changes, Header reviews and sitemap improvements. It was quite the refreshing change from going on the all out link assault and blog offensive (which are in fact good tactics in their own right). The main lesson I learned from this week was not to forget looking at the SEO basics.
Also this week:
- I'm now an official Mac user.
- I've just joined Twitter - who needs Facebook?
- Back to basics is essential
- Mini celebration for the hard work that went into making a site successful - and it is
- So far so good.
- Metafocus Global is coming!

Thanks for the reference Stu! Getting back to basics is always great way to look at things. It can always help you look and see things you've missed.
Great advice you've given here too :)
Thanks!
